Past Research

Following the completion of my undergraduate degree at UBC, I was a research assistant at both the UBC Fisheries Centre's Marine Mammal Unit and the Sea Around Us Project .  As a member of the SAUP and under the supervision of Dr. Jackie Alder and Dr. Daniel Pauly, I assisted in compiling a global fishmeal and fish oil trade matrix from 1950-2004, and contributed to the subsequent Research Report. Following this work and with assistance from others, I have been collecting data and building a spatial database of global marine aquaculture production by species and sub-national region from 1950-2004.

Current Research

MSc Thesis
I am currently using this mariculture database for my MSc in Resource Management and Environmental Studies, under the supervision of Dr. Daniel Pauly. Supported by the SAUP, I am investigating the history and possible futures of global marine aquaculture production.

I am the past Coordinator for the 2009 Fisheries Centre Seminar series.

I am also the past Sports Rep and a Member At Large of the RMES Student Society Executive (2008/2009).

Future Research

Unsure of What I Want To Be When I Grow Up, my future interests are aimed broadly towards coastal zone management issues related to people, to food systems, and to the sustainable use of environmental resources.
